Green Lantern (Trailer)

Awesomeness ensues (too bad this is fan-made, but if the real Green Lantern flick can capture the spirit of this trailer, I'm copping my IMAX tickets early!).

The Cleveland Cavaliers Lose Game 6 Of The Eastern Conference Finals, Orlando Magic Advance To NBA Finals

I don't wanna talk about it.

Tony Yayo Ft. Boosie - Cadillac

This is off of Tony Yayo's latest drop, The Swine Flu, but I'm posting this one because of the closeout verse from (Lil'?) Boosie. Not that there's anything wrong with Yayo's bars, but the track begs for a southern rapper (they shoulda swapped one of Yayo's verses for a 16 from Young Buck) and Boosie just murks that last verse somethin' awful. Sometimes it takes a while for me to really "hear" a song and even though this song has been out for a minute, it wasn't untill I was scanning Yayo's tape that I heard what I hadn't after listening to it plenty of times prior. The tinge of pain and perservence mixed with some good ol' southern thuggin'.
...It's drama, gotta be here to feed Mama
Believe in Jesus, not Barack Obama
Thirty bitches, ten niggas when we roll, so that's three a piece
One for you, one for me, gun for you, gun for me

And it's not so much the words, but the way he spits em. I know the big homie Gotty™ has been screamin this for a minute, but the way Boosie puts emotion into his music is almost Pac like. As far as the Trill Entertainment stable, I always thought Webbie was the best rapper of the bunch but Boosie is slowly gaining my respect and I can't ignore the way the South reps for him.

Quietly, dude's put out a gang of mixtape material over the past 2 years so you definitely have to repect his grind. He had a big single with "Zoom" off of his first album, Bad Azz and got some shine on Webbie's "Independant" and the only song off Jeez's The Recession they didn't make a video for, "Everything", but for some reason he's pretty much remained a minor player in the greater Hip-Hop landscape. Here's to hoping his upcoming album, Superbad, can change that

Jimmy Valentime - Time (Video)

I can't even stunt. My dude Jimmy kinda surpised me with this one. Keep doing your thing My G.

Trayo - The Warm Up (Mixtape)

One of the good things about being a blogger is getting new music from unknown cats looking for some shine. Even though I'm pretty green when it come to this blogging stuff, surprisingly I get alot of music sent to my Gmail account. Most of it's trash, but once in a while I hear something that really catches my ear and a couple months ago I found one.

The first joint I heard from Trayo was called "I'm From The Eastside" and from the jump, the booming track grabbed me. That, mixed with Trayo's gruff lyricism had me on the L train looking like a bobblehead (pause). Reppin' Sin City, Las Vegas, Trayo's flow is steeped in the streets but even though he had one hot joint, I was still loooking to hear more from him before I totally co-signed. Last night, my dude BK2LV dropped Trayo's mixtape The Warm Up in my mailbox and I was highly impressed. Dude goes in on this joint.

Manhandling ever track he spits on, The Warm Up is a mixtape, so there are a couple of beats you might've heard before, but Trayo makes each one his own, especially on "Ayo / We Go" where he reps over a tweaked version of Rick Ross's "Luxury Tax". Flames. As hot as those joints are, it's the original songs that really show dude's promise. Songs like "Big Guns ft. Tony Boy" and the aforementioned "I'm From The Eastside", the title track, "The Warm Up", and the epic, "Street Stories" (A track where Trayo tells three different stories from the perspective of three different personas), only make you realize just how inept some of these label A&R's are. With a distinct voice, a creative outlook and a flow that balances block savy and book smarts, this cat needs a deal pronto. Now I'd never lead my loyal readers astray (What up Geico! lol), but just in case you need a bit more convincing before you download, peep this...

Here's the link and the tracklist. Don't sleep. Trayo has what it takes to put Vegas on the map.

Amp's Mixtape Round-Up

Something about this cat's voice that is so authentic. You can hear the pain and struggle in every bar. The West Coast's Jay Rock hooks up with DJ Noodles and The Drama King, DJ Kay Slay for his new mixtape and joints like "Bang Bang" and "Follow Me Home (Cali Soul) (feat. The Game)" just get me open for his full length. (Edit: A Fucking Yo!)

Young Buck's been quiet for a minute. After getting kicked out of G-Unit, plenty of people counted Buck out, but this new mixtape is a definite return to form for the Ten-A-Key Titan. Highlights include "Bag It Up" featuring All-Star & Yo Gotti and Buck's collabo with Lil' Wayne, "Ups And Downs". I've always been a fan of dude and I'm just glad to see he's still putting out good music. Get 'em Buck!

The Cleveland Cavaliers Win Game 5 Of The Eastern Conference Finals

"LeBron James willed his team to win tonight. That was a heck of a performance. But you've got to say, That's too (darn) hard for him to work, night in and night out." - Charles Barkley

The final score was 112-102 but it was a whole lot closer then that. Lebron got some help from guys like Mo Williams, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Delonte West. Fool's gold IMO, cause in all of the previous games where Cleveland built up a lead, Dwight Howard and the Magic always managed to whittle it down by the end of the game. Down the stretch it was obvious that even though cats were contributing, Lebron was gonna have to carry them to the finish.

James dominated the ball and facillitated the offense in the final minutes, racking up a triple double along with the W. In all my years of watching the NBA, this was one of the most gutsy performances I've ever seen, but like I said before, one man can't win it all alone.

Or can he?

Fabolous - Throw It In The Bag ft. The-Dream/It's My Time ft. Jeremih (Video)

New music from Fabolous off that Loso's Way. Now I'm not mad at the heavy R&B sound of these joints. This is what Fab is known for, making joints for the ladies. My only question, where's the street single? For an album that's supposed to be inspired by the Pacino flick, Carlito's Way, the first couple looks off of the album are as far removed from the film as you can get.

Now I've seen Carlito's Way a buncha times, but maybe I missed the part where Carlito took Gail on a shopping spree. Think of "Throw It In The Bag" as the East Coast version of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like". Is tricking out of control really what's hot in the streets? To borrow a quote from the song, Where they do that at? I know cats wanna sell records but sheesh.

The 2nd clip fares a lil' better. Director Erik White makes a psuedo movie trailer for Loso's Way and even though Def Jam artist Jeremih is all over the hook, it's still somewhat bearable. Here's the tentative tracklist (even though these things are always subject to change)...

1. The Way (Intro) (Produced by StreetRunner)
2. Imma Do It (Produced by DJ Khalil)
3. My Time feat. Jeremih (Produced by The Runners)
4. Please Don’t Go feat. Marsha Ambrosius (Produced by Syience)
5. Lullaby (Produced by The Alchemist)
6. When the Money Goes feat. Jay-Z (Produced by Jermaine Dupri)
7. Throw It in the Bag feat. The-Dream (Produced by Tricky Stewart)
8. General feat. Lil Wayne (Produced by Miguel)
9. Pachanga (Produced by Sid V)
10. Last Time feat. Trey Songz (Produced by Jermaine Dupri)
11. I’m Back (Produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)
12. All My Ladies feat. Keri Hilson (Produced by Ryan Leslie)
13. Fabolous Life feat. Ryan Leslie (Produced by Ryan Leslie)
14. Let’s Make Love feat. Ne-Yo (Produced by Jermaine Dupri)

Looks good on paper, but you know how that goes.

The Fat Guy From Superbad Is Actually Kinda Cool

There's a pretty good Jonah Hill interview over at Complex. In it, Jonah talks about his career, his famous friends and about the various projects he's working on (Including adapting 80's drama 21 Jump Street into a film. Yeah, Hollywood is really reaching). As a fan of Hill's work in films like Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I found it an interesting read. Check it out here.

The-Dream Feat Kanye West - Walking On The Moon (Video)

I guess this one was an obvious single choice and with talk of The-Dream & Kanye working together on The-Dream's 3rd LP, Love King, I'm sure this won't be the last time we see these two cats together. So much ego in one space I'm surprised the cameras didn't explode on set lol. Cool song, even though I would've liked to see "Fancy" as a single. Not really feeling the visuals though. I mean, I know the song is called "Walking On The Moon" but they could've done a better job with some of those Special FX. The video reminds me of Michael & Janet's clip for "Scream" only with way less of a budget lol.

DJ Quik & Kurupt - Do You Know (Video)

More heat from the Left Coast. Another visual from Quik & Kurupt's much anticipated album, BlaQKout, due in stores June 9th.

Fashawn - The Outer City (Produced by Exile)

The homie Matt shot me this new joint from one of the West Coast's best kept secrets, Fashawn. This is a bonus joint off of his upcoming album, Boy Meets World, which is entirely produced by Exile. Go here to get Fashawn's single "Freedom" from iTunes and look out for Boy Meets World, dropping 9-1-09 on One Records.

And in case you have no idea who Fashawn is, here's his last mixtape, Higher Learning. Expect to be hearing alot more from Fash here on Amplified Grammar. I've already heard cats call him the "West Coast Nas" and even though I was skeptical at first, I can honestly say that description isn't that far off. New West y'all.

Killer Mike ft. Big Boi - My Chrome (Video)

I first heard this song on Big Boi's Purple Ribbon All-Stars Got Purp? Vol. 2 (an extremely underrated album by the way) and the first thing I thought was "single". Definitely my favorite track on the album and one of my favorite Killer Mike songs period.I wasn't much of a fan of Killer Mike back then. Aside from "Akshon (Yeah!)" and "A.D.I.D.A.S.", I hadn't really heard that much of dude. "My Chrome" was supposed to be the joint that really put Killer Kil on the map. Emphasis on "supposed to". The album underperformed, Killer Mike and Big Boi eventually had a falling out (which they've since settled) and Mike left the fold to go the indie route, landing a joint venture with Grand Hustle/Atlantic just last year. Now that's all good for Mike, but I always wished "My Chrome" had gotten the look it shoulda gotten, especially when I found out that a video was shot and it was directed by acclaimed video director Hype Williams. Seemed like such a waste...untill now. Props to The Crew for unearthing this gem.

RichGirl - He Ain't With Me Now (Tho) (Video)

With Amerie's new Def Jam deal freshly inked and new music hitting the internet, heads have been wondering what happened to her former producer and a major part of her past success, Rich Harrison. Well, wonder no more. Meet Rich's new group, RichGirl. Clever name huh? Yeah. Not really.

Tracks kinda hot though and these chicks are definitely easy on the eyes. It's like Destiny's Child with 4 Beyonce's lol. It remains to be seen whether they'll have any success. Even a co-sign from a well known producer ain't enough to sell an album these days (ie. The-Dream's Electrik Red).

Good luck ladies.

Juelz Santana - Days Of Our Lives (Video)

Juelz Santana - Days Of Our Lives from Radio Planet on Vimeo.

The first shot off of Santana's upcoming Def Jam release, Born To Lose, Built To Win. Decent enough track, but Elz is gonna need some fire if he plans on outdoing Cam and Jimmy's 1st week numbers. Still, Juelz has one advantage those other cats don't.

He's on Def Jam.

The Cleveland Cavaliers Win Game 2 Of The Eastern Conference Finals

It's really beginning to seem like "the Chosen One" is more than just a cool nickname. - Chris Broussard ESPN

A game winning three pointer by Lebron James save the Cavs from dropping 0-2 to the Orlando Magic. I won't even bullshit you. I musta went through 7-8 Newports during the course of that fourth quarter. I've been a believer of "King James" since his rookie season, but considering the Magic's gutsy win in game one, I had my doubts.

As dominating a player as Lebron is, one man alone can't win a ring. Over the course of the game, Lebron had to carry the rest of the Cavs, especially when they blew a lead that had ballooned to as much as 23 points. I never figured the Cavs would sweep the Magic but sheesh! This may be harder then I thought (pause). I picked the Cavaliers to win in 5 and I'm sticking to that for the time being, but adjustments have to be made defensively on Turkaglu and Lewis and Mo Williams and the Cavs bench are gonna have to contribute more offensively if they expect to make it to the Finals. But if anything, last night's game winner should temporarily silence Lebron's critics. Even if there's an amount of hype and calculation behind Lebron's image, there's no way to engineer what happened last night.

The era of Jordan is over but the James era is just getting started.

New music from The Snowman. After coming off 2008 with one of the years best albums, The Recession (My personal pick for Album Of The Year), Jeezy hits us with his latest mixtape, Trappin' Ain't Dead. Now DJ Folk may not be as high profile as some of the DJ's Jeezy's worked with in the past, but this tape is packed with exclusive shit. Here's a sample...

The Cool Kids Want You To Buy A System from Palestra Music on Vimeo.

Mikey & Chuck discuss their Gone Fishing mixtape as well as talk about what we can expect from their upcoming "debut" album, When Fish Ride Bicycles. For a couple of 20 year olds, The Cool Kids always come across mature and candid in their interviews. This one is no different.

Superman/Batman - Public Enemies (Trailer)

This trailer looks awesome!
Based on the graphic novel by writer Jeph Loeb (Batman: The Long Halloween) and illustrator Ed McGuinness (Deadpool). DC's really stepped up to the plate with their recent output of direct-to-DVD animated film. I'm really contemplating copping this one (Due out this Fall), along with Green Lantern: First Flight.

The Kid Daytona - Twilight

Another track off of The Kid Daytona's debut album, Come Fly With Me, dropping this June. This joint is bananas. If you're still sleeping on The Kid, I don't know what to tell you.

Soon you'll understand.

Sidebar: I love the way producer Jet Audio flips the Chromeo sample. Here's the song just in case you're not familiar...

Chromeo - Bonafied Lovin' (Tough Guys)

Women I'd Wife: Keyshia Cole

I've been kinda resistant to the changes Keyshia Cole has been going through, but at this point, I'm done resisting. Keysh looks amazing. As long as she doesn't lose that ghetto streak, she's still perfect wifey material. Boobie Gibson needs to worry about helping the Cav's win a ring instead of chasing Keyshia around.

"Chill shorty, let me do that" (c) B.I.G.

That is all. No music, no interesting point to make. Nope. I just wanted to post this pic of a beautiful woman. Do I really need an excuse?

Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa - Rollin' Up

A joint that will NOT be on their upcoming mixtape, How Fly.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

50 Cent - O.K. You're Right - Produced By Dr. Dre

New Curtis!!!

50 Cent - O.K. You're Right - Produced By Dr. Dre

I guess this one is off of Fif's upcoming album, Before I Self Destruct.

50 kinda jacks Marshall's flow on this one, but I ain't mad. It's still the "aggressive content" we've come to expect from Hip-Hop's favorite bad guy.
I think the fact still remains...

50 Cent + Dr. Dre = Hit Records

Before I Self Destruct in stores this Summer...unless it gets pushed back for the umpteenth time.

Audio lifted from The Section

Rick Ross - Cigar Music (I Do It) (Video)

Fascinated with foreign felines since I was knee high
This cigar got me buzzin' like a beehive
Fuck my old chick, I'm ridin with my new thing
In her blue jeans, panties like shoestrings
Most wanted, I'm Bin Laden on a beat nigga
Rubberband jeans saggin on my feet nigga
100 grand for the wagon and her feet nigga
black flaggin', just braggin I'm a street nigga
On the grind, little rappers wanna eat with us
Tryin' to shine like Birdman teeth glitters
VMA, find time just to creep wit her
So coincidental, walkin' down the street wit her
My loose cheese scooped up the Gucci
In 2 weeks I flew thru the boutiques
She get a time limit when I let her go and shop
Cruisin' in the car, clip the cuban at the top
Nggas know that my tec's explode
Down to go toe to toe before Techmo Bowl
Biggest boss in the game, chatter, I nevermind that
Cause if it mattered C-Murder would go Diamond
I reflect as im ridin in a Rolls Royce
Get respect cause I give these hoes no choice

The illest song on the album...that's not actually on the album.

P.S. I would post the track but the last time I tried that, Blogger took it down. "Cigar Music" is the iTunes bonus track from Deeper Than Rap. A little Google work and you should be able to track it down if you haven't already.

Freddie Gibbs - Neverending Cycle

I caught wind of this kid over at my regulaur haunt and it took me a while to decide to give him a shot. I mean, no disrespect to the tastemasters at The Section, but there's new music from some rookie rapper dropping everyday and it's nearly impossible to listen to everything. Plus, this cat's from Gary, Indiana. Gary's most known for the high unemployment rate, the gang violence and for being the hometown of The Jackson 5, and you see how fast them niggas got outta there. It wasn't untill he linked up with Devin The Dude (one of my favorite MC's of all time) that I decided to sample his music. I was instantly impressed. The combination of Freddie's gruff vocals, double time flows and streetcentric lyricism immediately made me a fan. Freddie Gibbs is definitely next up.

So much so, that I started to seek out more music from dude and I stumbled upon this joint, presumably off of his upcoming mixtape The Miseducation Of Freddie Gibbs and produced by J.R Rotem. If you haven't heard of dude yet, consider this an introduction and then head over to The Section to really get familiar (no Clinton Sparks).

Thor? Really?

The word is, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has been cast in Marvel Films, Thor.

I don't see it, but then again, I couldn't imagine Hugh Jackman (a unknown actor at the time) as Wolvie...at least, not untill I saw him pop his claws for the 1st time onscreen. I'm skeptical of this guy, especially since I have no idea who he is (He played Kirk's father in the new Star Trek movie) even though he's apparently been cast in two upcoming Hollywood movies, including the remake of one of my favorite 80's flicks, Red Dawn.

Being cast as Thor is a big deal, because most likely, the actor who portrays Thor in this movie (directed by Kenneth Branagh) will reprise the role for The Avengers movie. For the most part, Marvel's done a good job casting for their films (with the exception of Ben Affleck as Daredevil and Jenifer Garner as Elektra. Those movies stunk.) so I'm gonna go with it...for now.

Thor is due in theaters June 17th, 2011.

Freedom Of Speech

If you have ever listened to a Freeway song, you kinda know what to expect. High powered (and high pitched) flows packed with tales of the crime life, but balanced by Freeway's spiritual side (Freeway is a devout Muslim). Now, the 1st Philadelphia Freeway was mostly produced by "Super Producer" Just Blaze (No Solarr) and the result was the near perfect marriage of street infused lyrics over larger than life productions. The word "Classic" gets thrown round very loosely nowadays, but if you were to call Philadelphia Freeway a classic, I'd be inclined to agree with you.

After a brief hiatus (four years spent on the bench) Free's 2nd album, Free At Last was finally released on Roc-A-Fella Records in 2007. Although it wasn't as commercially successful as his 1st album (Just Blaze is conspicuousy absent from the production credits), Free At Last was still generally well recieved by fans and crtics alike. Then came last year's Month Of Madness, where Freeway released a new song everyday for 31 days. Pretty effective, even though monotony started to set in midway through, Free remains engaging, even when the content in his music becomes redundant.

This week, Freeway's new album, Philadelphia Freeway 2, leaked to the internet. First off, I hate sequels to great albums. They usually fail to live up to the name, with very few exceptions (Red & Meth's Blackout! 2 being one of them, but we'll get to that later on in the week). What's worse, it seems Free has finally parted ways with Def Jam, seeing that this latest album is to be released on Real Talk Entertainment. Now I wouldn't call Philadelphia Freeway 2 a bad album, but it fails to follow the track record of consistency set by Free's previous efforts. It's less of an album and more like an effort to fill the gap untill Month Of Madness 2 and Free's upcoming album with producer Jake One, The Stimulus Project.

There was another album slated to drop on Roc-A-Fella before PF2 was announced to the public. Freeway even leaked a bunch of songs from Freedom Of Speech to the web. I've decided to compile those leaked songs, along with a few other tracks that have been floating around the web and I think they make for a pretty good listen, if I say so myself. My suggestion? Download these songs and along with Month Of Madness and PF2, you can actually put together a pretty good Freeway album.

DJ Quik & Kurupt - 9x Out Of !0 (Video)

Off of their upcoming album, BlaQKout in stores June 8th.

Being a fan of both Quik and Kurupt individually and judging by the few joints I've heard so far, this album is gonna be serious! Here's some footage of Quik and Kurupt explaining how they came together.

Hood Rich

Edit: I'm not even gonna do these cats like that. I fucks with Gucci Mane (pause) and I can even listen to the rest of those cats in small doses. But the XXL Cover? Really? I know they're tyring to sell magazines up there at XXL, but damn. You think this had anything to do with EIC Datwon Thomas handing in his resignation earlier this week?

And as a way of making up for putting my foot in my mouth, here's some new music from OJ, SB & Shawty Lo (DivShare is fucking up so I had to Sharebee these)...

OJ Da Juiceman - Car Talk

Shawty Lo - 911 Ft. Rick Ross, Bun B, & Lyfe Jennings

Soulja Boy - Gold Grill Shawty ft. OJ Da Juiceman

And here's that Gucci Mane comp I've been working on. Yeah, I know. Gucci just dropped a new mixtape with DJ Holiday, Writing On The Wall, which is all brand new material. Consider my comp "Gucci Mane For Beginners".

D-Block Ft. S.I. - Get My Paper (Video)

I posted this heat rock a couple months ago and now here's the video. Seems like the New York artists are getting back on their grind.

Bout fucking time!

Now if we can just get a new Lox album.

D-Block's No Security compilation in stores June 9th.

With the 09 version of The Hamilton Process on the way, I've been going through my iTunes trying to free up room for new Charles Hamilton by trashing old Charles Hamilton. All criticisms aside, dude's '08 output was only matched by Gucci Mane & Charles has already dropped a gang of new music in '09 (With a free album on the way). Now not everything is a keeper, but there are enough jewels buried in his mixtapes that it's worth weeding through the lackluster songs to find joints like these...

Here I Am [Intro] off of The Binge Vol. 1: Staring At The Lavalamp

Sci-Fi Channel off of At Most I'm Just...

Brittany off of Every Charles Hamilton Ex-Girlfriend's Worse Nightmare

Strangers With Candy off of The Dead Zone

Young Dro ft. Yung L.A. - Take Off (Video)

Amp's Mixtape Round-Up

Seeing as how this has been a great week for mixtapes, I figured I'd share the three I've enjoyed the most, starting with Smitty's latest, Fucxx Smitty (Hosted by Evil Empire). We haven't heard much from Smitty since "Diamonds On My Neck" (off of his shelved J Records debut, Life of a Troubled Child) and this new mixtape serves as his reintroduction to the game. Being one of the first artists to help spark the Miami movement, I'm rooting for Smitty to get his shot to blow and his new Grand Hustle/Blackground/Interscope deal should put him in position to do just that.
1. Intro - Fucxx You Smitty
2. Fucxx Smitty

20. Lil Haiti
21. Diamonds On My Neck(Remix) featuring Lil Wayne, Swizz Beatz, & Twista

Next up is Don Cannon & DJ Skee Present Made In America: The Mixtape, the official soundtrack to the gang documentary of the same name. It's loaded with rappers who have claimed gang affiliations, sorta like those Bloods Versus Crips albums from the early 90's, except with cats who can actually rap despite the fact they're not as authentic. With artists like The Game, Snoop and Lil' Wayne, there's plenty of star power on this one.

1. Forest Whitaker (Intro)
2. The Game & Snoop Dogg – One-Time is on the Block
3. Lil Wayne – Fix My Hat
4. Freeway – Made In America Freestyle
5. Battle Flags (Interlude)

And finally, we have Brooklyn's own, 1/4 of Slaughter House, Joell Ortiz with Joell Ortiz Covers The Classics (Hosted By DJ Green Lantern). Pretty much an ode to the golden era of East Coast Hip-Hop, the 90's, Joell proceeds to rip into all of the classic instrumentals from the songs that defined that era. I'm not the biggest Joell Ortiz fan, but on this tape, I really was impressed with his interpretation of some great songs. A must for fans of New York Hip-Hop.

Lost Season Finale Tonight

Tonight ends Season Five of the best show on network television, Lost. If you haven't been watching, you probably don't give a shit, but for those in the know, just a friendly reminder to set your TiVo's and get your snacks ready. Tonight's episode is gonna change the game.

Lost airs on ABC @ 9:00.

This Just In: Just watched the Lost season finale and I have no idea what the eff just happened. Did the bomb work? And if it did, does that change what happened to Jacob? Anybody have a clue?

Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa's How Fly Mixtape (Trailer)

New mixtape collabo from two of my favorite New Jacks, Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa. I posted a Wiz Khalifa video last week but I've neglected to post any of Curren$y's stuff. Maybe it's cause I feel he gets so much love at more well known blogs, but make no mistake, Curren$y gets alot of burn on the iTunes. His new digital release This Ain't No Mixtape is available for purchase on the Amalgam Digital website. Good album that I encourage all the readers of Amplified Grammar to check for, but don't just take my word for it. Head over to The Smoking Section for a full review.

How Fly coming soon

The Cleveland Cavaliers Sweep The Atlanta Hawks

So the Cavs swept the Atlanta Hawks in the 2nd round of the NBA Playoffs. Not even slightly surprised.

Today King James finished first in the All NBA First Team voting.

James was put on the first team on every ballot of 122 sportswriters and broadcasters who regularly cover the league. Lakers star Kobe Bryant finished second in voting, while Dwight Howard of the Magic, Dwyane Wade of the Heat and Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks rounded out the first team.

James was a first-team selection for the second straight season after finishing second in the NBA in scoring at 28.4 points and ranking in the top 10 in steals and assists. He led the Cavaliers to a franchise-best 66-16 record, including a 39-2 mark at home, and the team's first top seed in the playoffs. - AP

Again, No surprise.
I'm actually rooting for the Boston Celtics to close out Orlando tomorrow night but regardless of which team advances...get ready for sweep number three.

Busta Rhymes ft. Demarco & Jelly Roll - We Miss You

We Miss You (Feat. Demarco & Jelly Roll)

Back On My B.S. in stores May 19

Now Playing...

A late pass is in order, cause this song's been sitting on my hard drive for about a month now. While tidying up the iTunes last night, I decided to listen to a couple of seconds of Gucci Mane's latest "Wasted", right before I tossed it into the recycle bin. Jokes on me, cause this song is kinda crazy. Definitely the most radio friendly song from Gucci since 07's "Back To The Traphouse". Peep the hook...

Rock star lifestyle, might don't make it
Living life high, every day clique wasted
Sippin' on purple stuff, rollin' up stanky
Wake up in the morning, ain't 10:00, drinkin'
Party, party, party, let's all get wasted
Shake it for me babygirl, do it butt naked
I'm so wasted, she so wasted
Tell the bartender send me 20 more cases

2008's Goon of the year, Plies, comes through to do his thing and it's actually a decent verse, kinda like how his music was before he became obsessed with making crossover music for the females. Plus, the Fatboi beat is a banger. Now, I know there are some of you out there who still don't quite "get" Gucci Mane. I'm putting together a comp of some my favorite Gucci songs to get y'all familiar. In the meanwhile, this should hold y'all over....

Glasses Malone - Sixty Million Dollar Flow (Video)

Sixty Million Dollar Flow

New heat from Cash Money artist, Glasses Malone, off of the Next Day Air Soundtrack (pretty good movie, by the way. A new edition of Torrent Theater is on the way). Reppin' Watts, CA, Malone has been grinding in the game for a minute, from getting put on by Mack 10 to eventually scoring a minor hit with "Certified" featuring Akon.

Cash Money is known for slacking when it actually comes to pushing an artist other then Wayne or Baby (Brisco & All-Star been down for a minute with little push. At least Brisco got a video.). Looks like Malone's long-awaited debut, The Beach Cruiser, actually has a release date. August 19th, my born day. I'm checkin' for dude. The West Coast needs new blood and artists like Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Bishop Lamont and Glasses deserve a shot to show and prove.

Not quite sure what to think of this video. Weird visuals for an undeniably catchy tune. From the little bit I've heard of Christian Rich, I'm hooked. Looking forward to the Decadence EP.

Joe Budden Is Probably Better Then Your Favorite Rapper (Joe Budden TV)

This latest installment of Joe Budden TV finds Joe Budden in the studio (with guest cameraman, fellow Slaughter House group member Joell Ortiz) and Joe takes exception with Vibe.com's "The Best Rapper Ever" competition. Now ordianarily I would clown Joey for whining and complaining about his spot on the list like he's been known to do in the past, but this time, I think he has a valid point. A best rapper ever list and MC Hammer is included? You gotta be shitting me.

Here's the actual Vibe article in question, so you can see for yourself...

www.vibe.com/bestrapperever

Towards the end Joe announces an open challenge to any rapper who feels a way about his comments in the video, then he basically calls Method Man out. Is Joe Budden a better rapper then Method Man? Will Method Man accept the challenge? Will Joe Budden ever learn how to keep his mouth closed?

Story developing...

Trae - Nuthin To A Boss /Million Bucks (Video)

From Trae's 2007 album, Life Goes On. I didn't even know Trae had any videos out from that album, seeing as how he was on the way out over at Rap-A-Lot and they're notoriously cheap in the 1st place. "Nuthin To A Boss" is a cool track, featuring Slim Thug, but I really dig "Million Bucks" featuring Jay-Ton (Trae's younger brother) and Lil' Boss. I thought they were supposed to be the group, A.B.N., but Trae & Z-Ro ended up using that name for their group album, It Is What It Is, one of 2008's sleeper records. Speaking of A.B.N., aside from Trae's upcoming album Tha Truth, now on his own G-Maab label, word is Trae and Ro have squashed their latest beef and decided to head back in the studio for a new A.B.N. album. Peep...

Reminder: Today Is Mother's Day

Don't tell me you forgot? Too busy catching up on this week's episodes of "Lost", "The Office", "30 Rock" etc. on TiVo to give your old earth a call? Too hungover from the club to wish Ma Dukes a Happy Mother's Day? Lucky for you, I have just the site. MomSourcing.com.

No need to thank me. Just looking out for my loyal readers.

Fat Joe - Music

New Joe Crack! I 'd be lying if I said Fat Joe's recent output hasn't been impressive. His last record, Elephant In The Room, as disjointed as it is, makes for a pretty decent EP once you trim the fat. Joe shoulda learned from what happened to Ja. Once you start beefing with Curtis you're bound to take some kinda damage and while there were no police uniforms in Fat Joe's closet, 50 definitely affected Joe's sales and to a lesser extent, his credibility. This new joint, "Music" is off Joe's upcoming album Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2) and Joe takes it back on this one, recalling his come up, plus he finally addresses the "misconception" that he doesn't put on rappers from The Bronx.
They say Joe too selfish, he won't let us in the door
I say, shit, I coulda left Pun in front of that store

And what follows is an entire verse dedicated to Fat Joe stroking his ego, listing his numerous contributions to the game. A humble guy Fat Joe is not. Still, after the number 50 tried to pull on him and the lackluster showing from his last album, I can understand why he would feel a need to remind folk exactly what he's brought to the table over the years. Dude's been consistent from album to album and J.O.S.E. 2 looks to continue that pattern.

Terminator Salvation Extended Trailer

If you're looking to stay spoiler free, I'd avoid watching this new trailer. It's basically the entire movie condensed into four minutes. It's still sick though and I'm still planning on going to see it in theaters.

Terminator Salvation hits movie screens May 21, 2009

District 9 Trailer

If this upcoming film isn't already on your radar, it should be. Produced by "Lord Of The Rings" director Peter Jackson and adapted from director Neill Blomkamp’s short film (Alive In JoBurg) District 9 is a Cloverfield/Quarentine styled "mock-umentary" which focuses on an alternate reality where aliens have landed on Earth. While it sounds like we've been there and done this before don't be fooled. This is far from your typical alien invasion movie.

The film depicts a fictional world where extraterrestrials have become refugees in South Africa. Wikus (Sharlto Copley) is a Multi-National United agent who becomes infected by alien biotechnology. He must go on the run from the oppressive government into District 9, a internment camp where “non-humans” have been forced to live since landing on Earth nearly 30 years ago.

There's definitely something unsettling about this movie. The documentary style of the film is spot on and the undertones of our own issues with race and segregation only add to the creepy factor. Not to mention, the trailer just looks awesome. The hype machine may not be in overdrive for this one just yet, but I'm betting good money this is going to be one of 2009 sleeper hits.

District 9 will be in theaters on August 14th 2009.

There's also a pretty elaborate viral campaign for the film, which centers around this site, http://www.d-9.com/ which is at least worth a look.

Bonus: The short that District 9 is based on...
