Curren$y - Life Under The Scope

One of my favorite young MC's (no "Bust A Move") drops off a new clip. Not sure what this is from (although I'm pretty sure there's no audio of this song floating around) but the song was produced by Ski Beatz (of Camp Lo/Reasonable Doubt fame) and from the looks of the video (which was recorded at Dame Dash's DD172, a building complex in lower Manhattan which houses several of Dash's ventures, including an art gallery and two studios) it seems like Spitta has aligned himself with the self proclaimed "Ultimate Hustler". If the rumors of a supergroup including Spitta, Jay Electronica and Mos Def are true, Curren$y may be taking his stoner shtick to a bigger stage.

So far, Center Edge Territory have recorded six records together but without a definite release date and considering the players involved (Still waiting on Act II, Jay), I ain't holdin my breath on this one. Remember CRS?.

Still, as far as supergroups go, this is one that I really want to see come together.

50 Cent feat. Ne-Yo - Baby by Me (Video)

Curtis getting his "Cliff Huxtable" on in this one, but with Kelly Rowland playing "wifey" (looking especially right, I must say), why wouldn't he? lol

This is one of the few tracks on Before I Self Destruct that will get played on the radio and although it took some getting used to, this one has grown on me. First off, not a fan of Ne-Yo but even a hater such as myself can admit the guy can write. Sure I wanted to hate it, but after repeated listens (as well as hearing the inferior OG track with a different singer & a different hook), I had to admit, the shit's catchy. 50's glaringly elementary rhymes (which threw me at first) act as a brief respite from the "Shoot, Stab, Slang" songs which dominate most of the album. Thing is, as dumbed down as I think these verses are, that's exactly what's gonna make this song a hit. Will it be a big enough hit to generate some actual sales? Can't say, but Before I Self Destruct is still the album 50 Cent fans have been waiting for since Get Rich Or Die Trying but more importantly, it's the album 50 needed to make.

Bonus: Fif continues the Crime Wave with Stretch (Crime Wave Pt. 2).

Seems like he's trying to slide in Cam's lane but so far....

Pimpin' Curly > Crime Wave

I can't wait to see Before I Self Destruct: The Movie*.

* I was being sarcastic.

Before I Self Destruct hits stores November 16th.

French Montana & Max B - Coke Wave 2

Freddie Gibbs feat. Pill - Womb To The Tomb

Off that midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik. Gibbs hooks up with Grind Time Rap Gang's Pill for this one and the results are authentic hood shit, not that you'd expect anything less. Gibbs has been heating it up the past few months and while I'm happy to see him getting all the love and accolades he's receiving, I can only hope that the glare from the spotlight doesn't detract from the music, as we've seen happen so many times before. Real rap is making a comeback and Gibbs is one of the spokesmen on the frontline.

The Clipse feat. Rick Ross - I’m Good (Remix)

The visuals for this remix finally arrive. Not surprisingly, Ross sounds right at home alongside Pusha & Mal (Unlike Killa Cam). I wouldn't mind seeing some more collaborations from these two acts in the future

Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind

Best song on the album gets the (mostly) black & white treatment. Cinematics by Hype.

Just A Thought: The more I listen to it, the more I think Alicia Keys really carries this song. Her vocals overpower everything else on the track. Including Jay-Z.

Lil’ Wayne - No Ceilings (Mixtape)

A bootleg version of this dropped earlier this week, but I waited until the official release to throw this up, courtesy of the good folks at The Smoking Section. Mixtape Weezy is back in fighting form and No Ceilings is definitely a contender for best tape of the year. Don't sleep.
